Here is something you should understand.
Total number of aspirants may have:
- applied for the Prelims – 2 Lakh 30 Thousand due to the Objective exam pattern for Mains.
- appeared in the Prelims – 1 lakh to 1 lakh 25 thousand max
Cut – off depends on the vacancies (category wise), aspirants appeared and the marks obtained by them in Prelims. Out of this data, only vacancies are known to us. Remaining data in known only to MPSC. So its very difficult to calculate exact cut-offs in the absence of this data.
I have taken care to calculate the expected cut offs based on feedback from aspirants and my understanding. This is NOT official cut-off list. MPSC will release it at appropriate time.
The cut-offs may vary by 10 marks. For example, it may go down by 10 marks or up by 10 marks.
My advice to each and every aspirant is that (s)he should start preparation for Mains. Your hard work will not go in vain even if you fail to clear Prelims this year. Your preparation will be helpful for 2013. Our PGP strategy is this “Complete Main’s preparation even before the Prelims!!!”
But remember: – You MUST prepare from 30 to 40 books for Mains. Extensive reading and the preparation of Notes and lastly revision followed by Mock Tests. Join our PGP, its excellent and follows this strategy.

@Sagar, you have very good chance for STI Mains but 50-50 for SSM.

@Kunal, your score is a borderline score, so you may have 50-50 chances. If vacancies increase then you have a chance.

@Abhijit, you could have given the exact dates of both exams.
for rajyaseva mains it is on 1-3 sept and university is on 1-6 sept
@Abhijit, keep preparing for both exams. If something goes good in your favour and Rajyaseva Mains get postponed then you will be lucky. You can sacrifice Rajyaseva 2012 but you can’t afford university exam being sacrificed for Rajyaseva. Focus on TODAY and pray for the miracle. There is NO other way out.

Hi Sir, I dont want to irritate you by asking same qeustions. I have different problems. I had given 3 exams in a row. UPSC,MPSC and STI. And I am gonna clear all of them. My marks are: MPSC- 122, STI-230, UPSC- 210-230 (hopefully clear). I am rather confused what should I do? Should I prepare for all of them? Is it possible? iIs it possible to prepare for MPSC in next two months. I am an MBA (Pune). In search of job (family conditions). My friends are forcing me not to try any job and prepare for mains. what shouls I do? Is there any postal or online course as I can not attend any class personally? I hope you will reply to my query as I was unanswered before many times. Thanks in advance. I appreciate you work here (irrespective of the fact whether my qeustions will be answered or not).
@Taru, its true that you are going to clear these exams. I would suggest you to prepare for main exams. Wait for few months and soon after Mains are over, go for a job. @Vishal, I never believe in hearsay. Be prepared for the worst but do your hard work in time and expect the best for you as you deserve it (if you work hard in the right direction). DO NOT spend precious time in worrying about the cut offs. Why don’t you people stop wasting your as well as my precious time in asking such questions? Concentrate on your preparation man, don’t forget to put in your best in this process.

@Monica, be prepared for both, you have a chance so don’t waste precious time. First, compare syllabus and start with similar topics and then go accordingly.

@Yogesh, through MPSC, you can become a Deputy Collector or any other Class I officer. You may get excellent opportunities in Gov Sector to explore your HA skills. In the state services preliminary 2012, I have a score of about 121 (though i think atleast 3-4 economy answers in key are wrong ,for example the answer for ways to control inflation should be all above in my humble opinion ) and i fall under NT – D…do i have a fair chance sir ?…my other question to you sir is being an englsih medium student i am worried about marathi paper in mains…will it really be of 10th level in your opinion as i highly doubt it being so easy considering the number of marathi standard students and the level of difficulty of prelims this year ….what do you think sir ?..thank you…
@Abhijeet, Marathi will be of 12th Std. You have a chance for Mains. You must be ready for very complex questions at Mains.

I have scored 166 in STI prelim and 90 in SS prelim… whats your opinion for me… and sir, I have also applied for Combined Graduate Level Exam – 2012 by Staff selection commission. @Harshal, your score for STI is somewhat low and for SS you have borderline score. Be prepared for SS Mains. We do not monitor SSC exams.

By the way Sir, Last year paper was easy as compare to this year.. . But cut off for OBC was very low. i.e. 137 and vacancies were 280 in total.. But now, vacancies are near about 340-350. And the paper was quite difficult.. So…?
@Harshal, due to change in exam pattern (Mains), more people got attracted to it and since there are more candidates this year, there would be more people qualifying for the Mains; hence the cut-offs.

@Swapneal, yes, you have excellent score for SS. Prepare for Mains. Put in your best efforts and don’t keep worrying about results, they will come as per their schedule.

sir ji, maine suna hai UPSC walon ko MPSC PRe ka paper easy gaya hai. to kya sab seatein wahi bhar denge kya? humara kya hoga sir ji? aur cutoff 115 hoga aisa pune me bol rahe hai. sir ji, plz clarify on this. many people like me are under tension. when will b the )pre) result announced?
@Kirpalji, asal mein baat yeh hai ki jinhone UPSC ki taiyari ki unhone extenisve study ki thi UPSC ke hisab se to natural hai ki unka performance achha hi hoga. Maine 100-110 ka andaja lagaya hai (+10 ya -10 bhi ho sakta hai) to main sahi hoon na! MPSC ki taiyari karnewalon ko main kabse samjha raha hoon ki aap logo ko kamse kam 50 -60 kitabe (basic aur advanced) padhane chahiye magar woh log amajhe hi nahi magar ab Prelims ke baad sab log samajh gaye hain. Aap abhi tension mat lo aur Mains i taiyari mein lag jaao. Pre ka result aane me der hai aap time waste na karo.

@Jyoti, I have not calculated sports category. Please do not worry about cut-off, start preparation for Mains, it will not go in vain even if you do not clear this time. If you clear Prelims this year then you will be ready for Mains.

I have a doubt regarding the cut-off. You have given separate cut-off for open and other categories. But for last state services prelim the cut-off for all categories and open was the same one (137).
Do you expect different cut-off for open and categories this time. If so why? And why last year cut-off was same ?

I am from OBC category and my Rajyaseva score is 105.5 . I calculated my STI pre score to 200 out of 300. should i start studing for both mains ? If so what should be the approach for studing fr both exams simultaniously as this is my first prelim. what type of courses does academy offers so as to cover syllabus for both exams.

sir i studied only 10 days for the mpsc rajyaseva after my engg exams..n i got 76 mks sir i belong to nt-c category..this year i just wanted 2 cross d last time cut off…but d paper ws set like the people who studied for 1 year got less mks. my 10 days study is nothing infront of them..sir kahich chance nahi aahe ka maza pre clear honyacha…
@Vidya, frankly speaking, you can expect a miracle this time. You should be prepared for the worst or the good result. Start preparing for Mains, it will NEVER go in vain. This is our strategy at AD’s IAS Academy that “one must complete entire syllabus of Mains and Prelims….even before the Prelims exam!!!”

@SRK, you have to send a written request to MPSC before 20th Jun 2012. Details are in the answer key PDF.
sir, I have a doubt. If i cleared prelims through category quota, can I get DC post from open category (provided I cleared mains from open category) ?
@Mayur, once you claim category quota ta Prelims, you can’t change it at Mains.
