(3) Maharashtra, India and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of
Maharashtra, India and the World. (महाराष्ट्राचा, भारताचा व जगाचा भौतिक, सामाजिक व आर्थिक भूगोल)
(4) Maharashtra and India – Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj,Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc. (महाराष्ट्राची व भारताची राज्यव्यवस्था आणि शासन)
(5) Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion,

Note 1 : Negative Marking – 0.33% for each wrong answer (except Decision Making and Problem Solving)
Note 2: Questions relating to Marathi and English Language Comprehension skill of Class X/XII level (last item in the Syllabus of Paper II) will be tested through passages from Marathi and English language without providing cross translation thereof in the question paper.
Note 3 : The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type.
Note 4 : It is mandatory for the candidate to appear in both the Papers of State Services (Prelim) Examination for the purpose of evaluation. Therefore a candidate will be disqualified in case he / she does not appear in both the papers of State Services (Prelim) Examination.

I am a SC candidate and have turned 37 this 14feb. Currently working as a computer engg.
Due to unfavorable conditions i was not able to attempt for MPSC. This time I have applied for MPSC prelims. I understand that it might be too late for MPSC PREPARATION.
Do you still suggest me to study and concentrate on the exams?
What I heard from most of the people is that “you cannot clear MPSC in one go”.
Better, I thought to get an experts advice. Your guidance is highly appreciated.

@Sachin, you must understand that 2013 is the last chance for you as you will be completing 38 yrs of age on 14 Feb 2014 and will NOT be eligible for 2014 exam. Take leave from 1st to 9th April 2013 and start your preparation immediately after reading this message. You may join our Crash course.

@Ashwin, you have 2 years in hands so you can prepare very well for UPSC as well as MPSC. Your mission is IPS so better utilise available time to prepare for UPSC.

There will be individual cut-off or combined cut-off to qualify prelims exam ?
@Dhanesh, combined cut off will be considered for shortlisting candidates. However, they may have another strategy to select candidates who get minimum qualifying marks in both papers and this strategy/calculation is not disclosed by MPSC.

@Avinash, please explore MPSC website for the old question papers. If you have Maths and Physics as subjects (at Degree) then you can apply for Asst RTO post through Rajyaseva Exam.

@Pallavi, new exam pattern for Rajyaseva Prelims is for 2013. However, you may refer question paper of UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2012 for English section.

@Mandar, you need to be in Police department first as PSI or IPS and after successfully completion of certain years of service, you may be chosen to work in CID or CBI team. So, go for either MPSC PSI, MPSC Rajyaseva (to become Dy SP/ACP) or UPSC Civil Services Exam (to become IPS).

@Ashish, why not? Just keep your goal in you mind. Focus on the extensive reading, preparation of Notes, Revision and Mock Tests.

@Swati, cut offs would be decided on total score. However, they will have their own calculation about minimum score for EACH paper. Remember, this strategy is never disclosed by them.

There are 7 Sub topics in each paper, are they carrying equal weightage of Marks??
