@Snaehal, please see your email for the list of books. I am pretty sure that you may have books from your graduation days. There is shortage of books for Computer Science as far as MPSC syllabus is concerned. You may choose any other subject like, History/Geography.

@Rohit, for UPSC as well as MPSC, you should choose Public Admin and History/Geography/Marathi Lit/English Lit, etc. At Mains level, English and Marathi are compulsory. Refer to “Aniwarya Marathi” by Lila Govilkar and Marathi va Ingraji Atyawashyak Nibandh by Vedpathak.
i m studying in SYBCA CLASS. I have question abt to choose medium(English/Marathi).from 8th std. I studied in Semi english.11th & 12th std in Science stream with IT.After that completed diploma in Computer engg.with 1st class.Now in SYBCA. From the above history pls tell me the ans of the que. asked above.
@Swapnil, you should choose the medium in which you are more confident. If you are able to express yourself in English medium with 100% confidence then you go for that else choose Marathi medium.

@Shaams, you didn’t clear UPSC Mains may be due to your English, as I can see that there are flaws in your sentences and this could be the major reason. I suggest you to write 5 pages in English on any topic and ask someone, who is excellent at English, to check the content for grammar. This is a very excellent way to check your English. Once this is done, you can decide about the medium of writing the answers. There is a big difference between UPSC and MPSC syllabus, you also need to check this on my blog. There is a dearth of books in English for many subjects, so be careful while choosing your medium.

@Prasad, you can apply for MPSC Assistant RTO exam (this exam is specific to your qualification). However, the following exams are general and you can also apply for them, like MPSC State Services Exam, MPSC PSI Exam, MPSC STI exam.

@Akhil, yes, they are useful as long as you read them according to the MPSC syllabus. Similar books of Maharashtra State Board Pune are very useful. But remember, you should prepare first for Main exam 2011 and then Prelims. Read my plans.

i am an Architect just passed and intent to pursue career as a city planner to will be taking up masters in Regional planning in the coming future. after which thinking of working as a city planner in the planning department.
i want to know if MPSC/UPCS is required for this. if yes, what subjects shud be taken as being an Architect of no background of any of the listed subjects.

@Rajdeep, yes that’s very true. You don’t get enough study material in English. So there is a way to manage this problem. You must compare your subjects’ syllabus with UPSC syllabus and then mark the similarities. Based on this, you should get the books that are specified for UPSC Civil Services. I have given lot of links for English study material for Current affairs, India Year Book, Mainstream, Yojana, etc. You MUST get your own copy of MPSC Success Mantra in order to manage your study plan.

@Neeraj, you MUST read at least 2 books of different authors on same topic to understand the topic from different angles so that you can form your own view of the topic and this is what the examiner wants from you. He doesn’t want bookish knowledge.
