I am Prakash Thyagarajan. I am a Maharashtra Domicile student working with Oracle after my MBA. I am keen in pursuing a career in Civil Services. I have started preparing for MPSC 2012. Though I am a Maharashtrian by birth and domicile standards but as my name suggests, I have south indian roots. Can the south indian factor jepordise my chances in MPSC as this is state civil services and selection is through state exams and not national exams. This doubt has come up while I was having a conversation with other MPSC aspirants. But I would anyways go ahead and appear for MPSC irrelevant to my south indian factor. Just needed some guidance from you.

@Sandeep, there would be at least 2.5 lakh applicants this year so the cut-off is going to be very high.
i m about to complete my final year of hotel management from IHM Mumbai i.e dadar catering college….. but it seems like this industry is not suitable for me. i always feel like this is not what i wants to do. i joined hotel industry just because i wants to open a restaurant for poor people who can come and eat a good quality food at very cheaper rates. also I am always inclined to social work since childhood and always wanted to do the same. i want power in my hand to change this system…… please tell me how MPSC exam will help me. after passing this exam will i get to work with the sector which is related to hotel or catering industry…….. i do not have idea about MPSC.

@Nikhil, there are 85 days left for Prelims (10th Jun 2012) so you have enough time. Start NOW and devote at least 8 to 12 hours everyday. There i NO limit on attempts at MPSC. PGP is personal Guidance Program.

@Sachin, you may have asked the question on multiple pages so this is not allowed. For OBC, it should be around 430 to 440 and result will be out by March end.

@Tushar, you should complete your degree. Start preparation for MPSC State Services (Class I) and go for the kill in 2013. You will need 1 year for the preparation.

@Akshay, do not write the message in capital letters. Yes, STI has promotion chances to STO. Departmental exams are conducted regularly and after certain number of years service as STI, you can go for STO exam.
